End of Term 1

Thanks all for a great term Room 6.

You have risen to the year 6 challenge and it has been fantastic to see so many of you making the most of your opportunities as leaders, in sports and academically.

If you have time during the holidays, feel free to share some of your holiday photos or stories on your Blog.

I am sure your classmates would like to share in your adventures!

Some Room 6 children tackled the hills of the Tuki Valley in the holidays!

Week 11

The term has flown by and this week is a short one.  Have a relaxing Easter and make the most of your holidays.

Congratulations to those cyclists and orienteers who turn up for racing and practice last weekend.  Great attitude and great results!

This week our language and topic is related to ANZAC and we will be posting ANZAC letters and poems on the individual blogs.

In maths we are looking at fractions both of groups and wholes depending on the level.

Check out
mathsisfunfractions AND gcflearnfreefractions for information OR find a website to share with the class.

Remember End of Term assembly on Thursday.

Week 10

The children were amazing last week at camp, showing limitless levels of energy and giving everything a go!  A big thank you goes out to all parent transporters and helpers!

More photos and videos will appear on-line this week as we tackle the after camp activities.

In the classroom this week we will be using De Bono's Hats to reflect on camp activities, writing letters to thank parent helpers and discussing and writing expositions on a range of topics.  Some children will also be posting video clips of their favourite camp activity.

In maths, we will be working on geometry skills.  We will be learning to use grid references and give directions using compass points.

I will be out of the classroom on Tuesday of this week and Wednesday next week when I will be meeting up with individuals to test reading and maths levels.

Good luck to the inter-school cricketers on Wednesday (notices went home today).

Notices regarding the 'Tough Guy & Girl Challenge', Orienteering champs and cycling teams are also need to be returned this week.
