Week 4

We had a fantastic end to Week 3 with a sun and fun filled day out at the school picnic. Thank you to those parents who were able to help with transport and supervision.

Week 4
This week in the classroom:

Language:  We will be investigating commonly confused words - homophones!

'A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning.' e.g. which and witch.

Within the next week I hope to have all children publish a piece of writing on their individual blog - some are up already.  They are able to access these from home where they can edit them , add extra details or photos to enhance them further.  You are also able to give them feedback by posting comments.  All editing and comments generate an email to me so I can check and approve additions.  Check it out and give it a go!

Maths: We will be learning to use a range of strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.

  • Wednesday 26th - SCHOOL TRIATHLON - From 1.45pm.  Race order is Year 4, 5 and 6.  Make sure you come along to see some of Hawke's Bay's top young triathletes compete.
  • Friday 28th - SHOP DAY -  The children, working in pairs, have already thought up some great ideas for fundraising at our annual year 5/6 shop day.  We will be fine tuning these ideas during the week.  Please discuss their ideas during the week to make sure they are practical.
  • Take a look at the Kiwikidsnews website (link in Our Favourites). Room 6 children will be taking part  in the Friday quiz online.  All questions are related to news articles posted during the previous. The children will be provided with the school log in and password next week.
