Swimming
sports
Splash! That was the sound of Haumoana’s interschool
swimming representatives hitting the water.
On the 12th of March 26 children went to Onekawa Aquatic
Centre to participate in 2014 interschool swimming sports. The results were
very pleasing. We came first over all, mainly because of our year six relay
team who came first in the relay event. Also because of Lily S.E and Max who
were our champion girl and boy swimmers. Everyone else who competed won us lots of first, seconds, and thirds.
This is the first time we have won in a long time. The
events were freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, medley and relays. Everyone
had a great time and enjoyed the experience and would like to do it again.

Week 6
Week 6
Hi all
The term is flying by and there are only 3 weeks until camp. I spent Sunday in the Tutira area, checking out the venue and its surrounds. I am really looking forward to our 4 days of outdoor education. It will create many positive memories! The notice for parents attending camp will be out today.

The swimming sports were a success as was the water slide. Due to popular demand the water slide will be repeated on Thursday. The inter-school swimming sports will be held at Onekawa pools this year and notices should be out on Monday for those selected to compete.
There are 6 children from Room 6 representing the school in Beach Fives on Thursday at Ocean Beach. Good luck children!
Not all testing was completed last week due to delays in receiving the test so we will finish them this week.

This interview is an important one as this is where we get to learn more

Week 5
Hi all
Last week the children thoroughly enjoyed Shop Day and the Triathlon. If you have any photos worth posting, please forward them to me.
It has been great to see all the positive comments generated by the children on their own writing and their peers writing on Kidsblog. If you have not had a look yet, click on kidblog.Room6Haumoana
Congratulations to Kat and Lily for winning the Kiwikidsnews weekly quiz.
This week will be another busy one. Along with regular lessons, we will be doing several PATs (progressive achievement tests) during the week - Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have any queries about these tests, feel free to contact me.
We also have the annual school swimming sports on Friday (time to be advised) which always draws a big crowd and the forecast is looking perfect!
Week 5
This week in the classroom:
Language: We will be continuing with homophones. Now we have identified so many, we will be defining chosen words and using them in context.
Maths: We will be focusing on turning subtraction problems into addition problems to make them easier to solve.
